Benchmarking for Excellence in Addiction Treatment

A national benchmarking initiative is being launched by the State Associations of Addiction Services (SAAS), Behavioral Pathway Systems (BPS) and NIATx as a collaborative venture. The initiative is known as "Benchmarking for Excellence in Addiction Treatment". This ground-breaking endeavor will make comprehensive benchmarking data readily and affordably available to community-based addiction providers throughout the United States. The resultant benchmarking data will also galvanize advocacy efforts conducted by SAAS and its affiliated state associations.

The Benchmarking Initiative will encompass key performance metrics targeted to addiction providers in the clinical, operational, and financial realms of performance. Selected benchmarks will address vital areas of performance that will support financial survival and organizational excellence. This initiative is anticipated to make a very meaningful contribution to the organizational performance of participating agencies.

SAAS, BPS, and NIATx each bring unique perspectives and competencies to this project. SAAS actively represents over 2,500 providers of addiction services throughout the US. Behavioral Pathway Systems is the industry leader in the realm of behavioral health benchmarking. NIATx brings its distinguished competencies in the area of performance improvement. Together, they possess the capacity to help establish benchmarking as a vital management tool in community-based addiction treatment.
